BEST DESTINATION IN ARKANSAS: Tableside to a McClards tamale spread.
  • BEST DESTINATION IN ARKANSAS: Tableside to a McClard's tamale spread.

To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Arkansas statehood, the Arkansas Parks and Tourism Department has posted a ballot of 175 places in Arkansas and is seeking votes on the top 10 destinations in Arkansas. The Top 10 will be announced June 15, statehood day.

Vote at the website, by all means, but I welcome votes and ideas here. I think the list of 175 may be missing a few spots.

For example: You can vote for the murals of Forrest City but not for the tamale spread at McClard's (above)? More seriously: I can't find the Ouachita Trail (below) on the list of potential votes. I've done 75 miles of it, from Pinnacle Mountain State Park west, and it's a winner. I bet you have a few overlooked favorites, too.
