Fayetteville won't ban smoking in bars

Posted By on Wed, Jun 8, 2011 at 12:19 PM

The Fayetteville City Council voted 5-3 last night to amend city ordinance to also ban smoking in bars, along with other public places. But six votes were needed, so the ordinance failed. (A super majority was necessary to amend the existing ordinance.)

The Fayetteville Flyer is promising more details on the four-hour meeting. Aldermen Mark Kinion, Bobby Ferrell and Justin Tennant voted for smokers and against the health of bar workers and other customers.
