The Democrat-Gazette’s Debra Hale-Shelton gave the UCA treatment today to Supreme Court Justice Karen Baker’s appearance in advertising for Jamileh Kamran clothing, a matter we discussed briefly with the judge back in April. The judge, according to the D-G article, has told the designer not to use her photo any more.

I think I detect a bit of a shift in thinking from the judge’s brief discussion with me, in which she said she didn’t believe the use of her photo in advertising violated the judicial ethics rule that says judges should not use their office to advance their economic interests or the interests of others. Authorities in the field took a different view in the D-G article.
