Bloomberg gives $50 million to fight coal plants

The Sierra Club yesterday passed word — under embargo — that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg would announce today a $50 million gift to the Sierra Club to continue the fight against coal-fired power plants.

This has some significance in Arkansas, where the Sierra Club has been in the thick of the fight over SWEPCO's coal-fired Turk Plant in Hempstead County. That fight continues on several fronts.

Wall Street Journal jumped out with a blog post.
