Dumpster hits Regions skywalk

Posted By on Tue, Aug 16, 2011 at 10:22 AM

REPAIRS NEEDED: On skywalk hit by garbage truck.

A Waste Management garbage truck driver got a careless driving ticket and police reported some $10,000 in damage when the truck, carrying an uplifted dumpster, struck the skywalk over Spring Street from Regions Bank on Capitol Avenue. Report here.

Driver Toney Hilliard said he'd picked up a dumpster for emptying into his truck, but was distracted by a spider in the cab. He forgot about the dumpster and drove on, stopping at a loud noise. At that point, he saw the dumpster on the ground behind his truck and damage to the skywalk.
