Bipartisan highway bond supporters

Posted By on Mon, Aug 29, 2011 at 11:22 AM

Gov. Mike Beebe had his news conference today, as reported earlier, to call a special election Nov. 8 on sale of $575 million in highway bonds supported by an existing diesel tax and expected federal highway revenue. Chairs of both the Democratic and Republican Party — Will Bond and Doyle Webb — were on hand for the news conference.

The TeaGOP missed a bet. Why not oppose more borrowing and call for repeal of the existing 4-cent-a-gallon levy made to pay for the current bond program backing reconstruction of truck-destroyed interstates? Wouldn't want to starve a highway contractor, I guess.
