Another cost-cutting Republican exposed

Posted By on Mon, Sep 12, 2011 at 9:20 AM

Good reporting on the European junket enjoyed by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, another self-proclaimed fiscal conservative. Her $127,000 junket (and that doesn't include all expenses yet) puts Mayor Mark Stodola's high living with Little Rock chamber pals and Little Rock airport officials to shame. And had about an equal amount of results to show for it — not so much.

Come to think of it, did we slackers in the Arkansas press ever got a full cost and detailed report on Gov. Mike Beebe's French junket?

Watching the Charlottesville spectacle from halfway across the country, I confess that my first instinct was to raillery. Vanilla ISIS, somebody called this mob of would-be Nazis. A parade of love-deprived nerds marching bravely out of their parents' basements carrying tiki torches from Home Depot.
