The disappearing middle

John Brummett writes about a recent Fayetteville panel discussion in which left and right predictably took different views on taxes for the rich and solutions for the country's budget problems. Supply side and succor for the rich against fundamental economic justice.

I think I agree with the UA's Michael Pierce:

“We’re screwed,” Pierce, the economic professor and labor historian, concluded. His point was that our political system is so dysfunctional, so corrupted by money, as to be paralyzed, unable to rise to the dire economic occasion.
