The Thursday night line

Posted By on Thu, Sep 22, 2011 at 4:30 PM

The line is open. Anything to say? Final notes:

* NOT RETIRING SOON ARE YOU? The worldwide market drop has reached horror movie-fascination levels.

* OBAMA THROWS IN WITH BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB: Says here that President Obama will move to loosen No Child Left Behind's always unmeetable mandates in return for states agreeing to allow more charter schools, link teacher pay to test scores and upgrade standards. They have drunk the billionaires' rum punch. There's no statistical showing anywhere that charter schools and merit pay enhance student performance (merit pay has been pretty thoroughly disproven, in fact). And don't let Arne Duncan tell you that Chicago proves otherwise. The Walton-Stephens-Murphy money should make quick work of implementing this plan in Arkansas all the same.
