The driver of a stolen truck tractor disabled two Pulaski County sheriff's cruisers in a chase that began on Dixon Road about 4 a.m. this morning. The chase included a gunshot fired at the semi driver, but he got away. The crime scene investigation closed Dixon Road, which crosses the Pine Bluff freeway south of Little Rock, for a period of time this morning.

UPDATE: Here's the completed report and photos provided by the sheriff's office above and below of the disabled patrol cars.

A preliminary report from Lt. Carl Minden follows:

On 7 November 2011 at about 04:00 a.m., Pulaski County Sheriff's deputies located a stolen tractor trailer rig (rig only / no trailer) at the commuter lot at I-530 and Dixon Road. The vehicle fled the lot and headed east bound on Dixon Road. The deputies pursued the rig. The rig stopped near on Dixon Road near Wright Road. The driver of the rig then backed into the patrol vehicle of one deputy. The driver then rammed the other deputy's patrol vehicle. One deputy was able to fire his service weapon at the rig in an attempt to end the assault. The rig then fled east bound on Dixon. Both of the PCSO patrol vehicles were disabled by the rig's assault.

The rig was located a short time later in the 4500 block of Neely Road. The rig was not occupied. Arkansas State Police and Little Rock Police responded to assist in the incident. LRPD called out K-9 units for tracking, but the search did not result in the apprehension of the suspect. Sheriff's Office investigators are currently processing the scene. The portion of Dixon Road where the incident transpired is currently closed due to the crime scene processing.

UPDATE: Dixon Road is open again.
