Who audits the auditor?

STANDS MUTE: Auditor Roger Norman wont discuss his salary.
  • STANDS MUTE: Auditor Roger Norman won't discuss his salary.
Doug Smith checked up for The Insider this week on tips about extraordinary pay raises given to legislative auditor Roger Norman (10 percent each of the last three years when other state employees were getting much less, or nothing); a sharp increase in the auditor's cost of office space, and, in the bargain, a memo of Norman's encouraging use of Biblical principles in the division.

You'll see that Norman's response was somewhat less than the transparency we might wish from a public agency. Particularly from an agency charged with exacavating details about financial practices of OTHER state agencies. Norman wouldn't answer questions.
