The Republican agenda in Louisiana

Posted By on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 2:40 PM

I jokingly concocted a Republican agenda for the next leader of the Arkansas House earlier today. (Not really joking. I suspect it is close to accurate, just not quite extensive enough.)

For a real-life taste of Republican governance, I direct you to Louisiana, where Gov. Bobby Jindal is rolling out his legislative program before a Republican majority legislature. More private and parochial school vouchers and cuts in state employee retirement are among the agenda items, along with more anti-abortion legislation, privatization of a state health plan and prison closures. Oh, and making the pirogue the state boat. School closings are being contemplated in my home region of the state as teachers head to Baton Rouge to protest.

What happens in Louisiana ....
