UA adopts a policy to protect minors on campus

Posted By on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 5:56 AM

Prompted by incidents elsewhere — presumably the scandal at Penn State University — the University of Arkansas has adopted a policy to safeguard minors who visit the campus or attend events there, such as athletic camps.

It specifies when campus employees must report incidents of suspected mistreatment and lists the broad number of people who are mandated to make such reports.

Here's the policy. The policy notes a new state DHS regulation "which indicates that 'school officials' required to report maltreatment includes 'any person authorized by a school to exercise administrative or supervisory authority over employees, students or agents of the school'."
