Captain removed from plane after mid-air freakout

Posted By on Wed, Mar 28, 2012 at 11:25 AM

CNN has video of panic in the air as the captain of a JetBlue airliner en route from New York to Las Vegas apparently had some kind of psychotic episode in mid-flight yesterday, forcing the co-pilot to lock him out of the cockpit. Passengers said the pilot reportedly began pounding on the cockpit door, screaming about "Israel" and "Afghanistan" and how they needed to "get this plane down." After he began trying to open an emergency exit door, several burly passengers rushed and subdued him. The plane diverted to Amarillo without further incident, and the pilot — who has not been charged — is reportedly receiving medical treatment while in the custody of the FBI.
