Price Dooley, a Republican candidate for state representative, is going hard after incumbent Republican Rep. David Meeks. Meeks handed him an easy angle — he set up his wife in an LLC to funnel her pay supplements masquerading as legislative expense payments, a practice now stopped by a taxpayer lawsuit in which I participated. Meeks billed taxpayers for payments to his wife for “legislative consulting services.” He’s by no means alone in this practice, he just happens to have a primary challenger making hay of it. Dooley says he’ll donate his salary to charity.
