Little Rock Airport screening woes

A seasoned traveler who almost missed a plane sends a photo of what he encountered at 6 a.m. this morning at Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport. As you know, this line bends back on itself multiple times once it reaches the screening area.

I don't care what anyone else says. The situation is far worse since the screening area expanded. The problem is the new scanners, with the longer transit time and the increased number of false positives..

The picture above shows what our traveler saw ahead of him and, below, others worse off than he.

UPDATE: My traveler reports that a 5:35 a.m. line arrival got him on a plane at 6:26 a.m. But not before a lot of anxiety. He reports that people were cutting in line and arguments were breaking out and that one airline held boarding open past the normal time because of the security delay.

  • Ted Suhl seeks Supreme Court review of conviction. Also a note on a similar case

Ted Suhl has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review his federal bribery conviction for giving money to Steven Jones, a legislator and an official of the state Human Services Department, which oversaw millions in Medicaid reimbursements to his in-patient and out-patient businesses working with troubled youth. Which reminds me of the ongoing Preferred Family Healthcare probe.

  • Trump immigration protest at LR: Quick and fierce

It was not even 24 hours ago that Sophia Said, director of the Interfaith Center; City Director Kathy Webb and others decided to organize a protest today of Donald Trump's executive order that has left people from Muslim countries languishing in airports or unable to come to the US at all — people with visas, green cards,a  post-doc graduate student en route to Harvard, Google employees abroad, families. I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
