Mississippi governor endorses school prayer

Posted By on Wed, May 30, 2012 at 12:28 PM

Just saw this about the new Mississippi governor telling delegates at Boys State that he hoped to see a day when prayer will be a daily ritual in public schools.

I'm just about to drive to Conway for my annual appearance as the token liberal at Arkansas Boys State. I will NOT be advocating a return of government-sponsored prayer rituals in school. There WILL always be prayer in school, of course, — as long as there's calculus and organic chemistry. I may have uttered a prayer or two myself during Pelican Boys State in 1967 in Baton Rouge — that it would end.
