Republican Senators join Obamacare fan club

Posted By on Wed, May 30, 2012 at 6:33 AM

Talking Points Memo notes emergence of Republican senatorial support — evident earlier in the House — for a continuation of popular aspects of Obamacare — coverage for the ininsured and young people, closing of the doughnut hole for seniors' drugs.

A unified party strategy emerges as the day of reckoning nears — Republicans must pretend they want to preserve Obamacare in at least partial fashion or end these hugely popular benefits. Republicans will craft a message that all of the pleasure can be retained without any of the pain of paying for it. Right. Like trickle-down — cutting taxes will cut federal deficits. We have 12 years of evidence for how poorly that worked.
