Oil-rich North Dakota is the current battleground for a new Tea Party Republican theme — repealing all property taxes.
Even in a state whose treasury is swollen with taxes from new energy production — this happy circumstance could never happen in Arkansas because of our pitifully low severance tax — the end of the property tax would devastate support for North Dakota schools and other services.
You think the 'baggers care? It is but another chapter in the return to feudalism. There might be future work in serving in the private armies that will be necessary to defend the barons in their castles from the hungry with pitchforks.
