Intruders fatally shoot man on his porch

Posted By on Mon, Jul 30, 2012 at 9:40 AM

Charles Gaskins, 50, was shot to death on the front porch of his home in a mobile home park at 9500 South Heights Road by intruders who stormed onto the porch shortly after midnight Sunday.

The police report doesn't provide a motive, but witnesses said Gaskins was shot by a man with a semi-automatic handgun who said something to the effect of "hey, motherfuckers." There's no mention of an attempted robbery or stolen items. A number of family members were at the home in Southwest Little Rock and one witness who'd been on the porch said the assailants tried to enter the front door after she ran inside, but eventually left.

It's the 31st homicide of the year in Little Rock.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
