More slacking to start a sunny Sunday UPDATE

Posted By on Sun, Oct 21, 2012 at 6:22 AM

Looks like another day where I can't get to the computer much. I'm about to walk the streets of Springdale before a return to Bentonville. A quick scan indicates another quiet fall morning so far.

I'll try to check back. Otherwise, talk among yourselves.

UPDATE: Ok, I'm back in town.

* BENTONVILLE BRUNCH: A reader suggested Tusk and Trotter for brunch off the square in Bentonvillle. Which we did after walking the trail loop at Crystal Bridges and dropping in for a second visit. We tried lamb burgers, carrot cake waffles and fried pig ear salad. Good stuff all around. Rep. Les Carnine was among the after-church crowd.

* SHOOTING: LR Police Sgt. Cassandra Davis sends along report of a shooting:

Today around 2:30 officers were called to 6812 West 12th (near Grady's) to a shooting. There they found two female victims suffering from non life threatening gun shot wounds. One victim was shot in the arm the other was shot in the leg. Both victims were transported to UAMS for treatment. The identity of the victims can not be confirmed at this time. About the same time officers were called to a shooting on Labette Street. It is unclear at this time if anyone was shot in the shooting that occurred on Labette Street.

Detectives are working both shootings and are trying to determine if the shootings are related. It is too early to say that the shootings are connected. Detectives are attempting to identify suspects in both shootings. No suspect information is available at this time. Detectives are in the process of interviewing a large number of people and the details around these two shooting are unclear at this time. It will be much later in the evening before detectives are able to provide information that can be released.

UPDATE from LRPD on Monday:

Disturbance began at 9712 Labette Drive where shots were fired however no one was hit. The Disturbance continued to 6801 W. 12th where one victim was hit in the arm and transported to UAMS for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The motive behind the shootings is still unclear. Detectives continue to follow-up with witnesses involved in these shootings.

* GENDER GAP: If only women voted, Barack Obama would be headed for a historic landslide. Alas, if only men voted, say hello to President Romney. Nate Silver comments.
