Oh, the blog does rest while Max travels. Today, we say hello and goodbye with the same post! And we have for our history buff readers, this excellent piece from the New York Times on the overlooked history of the Civil War west of the Mississippi. Check out "A Surprise Attack in Arkansas" and don't despair: the master blogger returns stateside next week. (By the way, the Pea Ridge battlefield and museum is a fascinating place, even to someone who can't tell a minie ball from Minnie Mouse.)
