Was trying to decide whether the picture above — of Mike Ross receiving an honorary degree from the Future Farmers of America — looks more like a David Lynch movie or an Alexander Payne movie. Anyways, the line is open. Was planning to do a podcast with Leslie but she went home sick, so sorry loyal listeners, we'll be back next week!

A few odds and ends...

SHOFFNER'S COURT DATE: Martha Shoffner will be due in court before US Magistrate Judge Joe J. Volpe for her initial appearance and arraignment on June 27 at 10 a.m.

LINDA TYLER CAR CRASH: The former legislator is recovering at Conway Regional Medical Center after an accident Wednesday. She drove off the road and hit a mailbox. Tyler lost a state Senate race to Jason Rapert last fall.

CORN DOG: Josh Marshal flags one of the funniest political ads I've ever seen, from a 2012 House race in South Dakota. It gets better and better, watch the whole thing.

YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS:
I was saddened to learn that the Arkansas Republican Party doesn't like Wiz Khalifa. The party made the divisive announcement today on their Facebook page. For some reason, the post was then removed almost immediately.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.

Wait! Postpone tax reform and everything else for a while longer because the Senate is going to try to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act one more time before September ends and while it can do it with the votes of only 50 senators.

Look, the Great Campus Rape Crisis was mainly hype all along. What Vice President Joe Biden described as an epidemic of sexual violence sweeping American college campuses in 2011 was vastly overstated.
