Lyon College to add football in 2015

Funny. I was just trying to talk my wife this morning into planning a Hendrix College Warrior tailgate this fall for the school's inaugural football season.

Now comes word that Lyon College in Batesville plans to add football in 2015. Full details from KAIT.

Theory is the same as that that drove Hendrix: Adding football might attract more male students, maybe 100 to Lyon, President Donald Weatherman said.

Hendrix, as the veteran player on the Division III block in Arkansas, surely will refuse to play upstart Lyon. Might cut into recruiting, see. (Actually, looks like Lyon will remain in NAIA, so the intrastate rivalry question might not apply if Lyon chooses to play only in that organization.)
