The Saline Courier was on the job late last night with a report of the arrest of Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington after a disagreement with Benton police attempting to prevent him from driving himself home from a local restaurant/nightspot.

According to the Courier, despite the arrest, Pennington enjoyed some professional courtesy by being released without detention to a family member.

Pennington was first elected in 2008, as a Democrat. In 2011, he switched party to Republican, joined by U.S. Rep. Tiny Tim Griffin in the announcement.
