Good story here about the lawsuit by a gun control group, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, against Nelson, Ga., which adopted a “family protection” ordinance in April requiring gun and ammo ownership by the head of every household in the 1,300-population town. It was meant as a political statement, all now say, and hasn’t been enforced. Yet.
But there is a 1st Amendment. You can’t require someone to wave a flag or pray or pledge or even buy advertising in the Arkansas Times, however laudable any of those activities might be.
Naturally, one of the wacky gun carry groups has intervened to support a law forcing gun ownership. No word yet if a followup is a law to require you to shut up about it if you don’t like it.
How did Nate and Denny miss this idea, I wonder?
