State files with feds for approval of 'private option' version of Obamacare

Posted By on Tue, Aug 6, 2013 at 5:51 PM

The state of Arkansas today submitted its application to the federal government for a waiver that will allow it to expand Medicaid under federal Affordable Care Act support (Obamacare) through the so-called "private option" plan.

Here's the letter of application.

Said a message from DHS:

We hope to have a response from CMS by October 1, but understand that it may take longer. The two most significant changes you will see are that we are not requesting that Medicaid rules related to Federal Qualified Health Centers be waived at this time (I think on page 23) and we are not planning on 12-month continuous eligibility.

This means the health centers, who've been complaining, are spared.
