A word from our state religion.

The SEC football schedules for 2014 are out. As expected, Arkansas-LSU the day after Thanksgiving is another grand tradition tossed on the scrap heap. It will take a little punch out of The Boot trophy given the winner, I'd think.

Arkansas will finish with Missouri as its season-ender on the final Saturday, Nov. 29.

Sorry, Missouri bores me. (OK. More exciting than Samford.)

LSU-Texas A&M gets the marquee date.

I'm old enough to remember when Texas-Texas A&M was a Thanksgiving Day staple. Now there was a rivalry. It's another casualty of the chase for dollars in big-time college sports.

I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
