  • IS HE SERIOUS? Tim Griffin's website survey on Obamacare doesn't seem to work.

An e-mail has arrived from Tim Griffin, the Republican who's quitting the U.S. House at the end of next year to make more money.

He invites me to send in my thoughts about Obamacare to a webpage he's created. It's not exactly a scientific survey, given that Griffin introduces it by saying:

It’s undeniable that Obamacare is failing to deliver on its promises: workers and families are losing their health insurance plans, costs are going up and folks are losing their jobs or having their hours cut. On top of that, the Obamacare website – which cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars – is a bust. If this is how the federal government plans a website, Americans certainly don’t want Washington designing their health care system.

Well, since my congressman asked for my opinion, I have attempted to send it in. You may do so, too, by going to this link. It's simple. You are asked to check as many of these options as apply:

My health insurance plan has been canceled
My work hours have been cut
My health insurance costs have gone up
My job was eliminated
My doctor will no longer see me
I have not been impacted by Obamacare
I have been impacted by Obamacare in a positive way
I've had trouble with the Obamacare website (www.HealthCare.gov)
I'm not sure

To have the survey count, you are also requiired to fill in this blank:

Please tell me more about your experience with Obamacare:

I said I'd been impacted by Obamacare in a positive way. And I elaborated that my experience was that Obamacare was a welcome step toward the universal care considered a birthright in other developed countries.

Then I tried to submit my survey. Repeatedly, I've gotten no confirmation that it transmitted. The information remains on the screen, with no acknowledgment it has been accepted or rejected or needs further action. I filled out every blank, even spaces for phone and address that aren't required. The reader who alerted me to the poll said said she'd had the same problem.

Just saying. Yet another complaining reader:

When I entered in that it had a positive impact, it locked up and wouldn't let me "submit." What utter bullshit.
