Same-sex marriages begin in Hawaii

Six same-sex couples tied the knot just after midnight in Hawaii, with the new Marriage Equality Act taking effect today after the governor signed the law in November.  

Hawaii law allows couples to marry the same day as they register for a marriage license, which helps make the state a popular destination wedding spot for tourists.  NPR recently reported that state officials are hoping that the new marriage equality law will increase that market.
