Census estimate: Arkansas grows by almost 10,000

Posted By on Mon, Dec 30, 2013 at 1:26 PM

The Census Bureau today issued new population estimates for the states and the U.S. as of July 1.

All but two states — West Virginia and Maine — gained population according to the numbers. Arkansas's estimated population grew slightly, by almost 10,000, — from 2,949,828 in 2012 to 2,959,373.

Here's a summary from USA Today. The country's population grew by about 2.3 million, to more than 317 million, but the rate of growth was the slowest in years. Florida, Arizona and Nevada grew by more than 1 percent to lead the states, but they also reflected numbers cooled by drop in immigration and aging population. Lots more data at the Census website.
