Construction worker struck, killed by car on 1-40 near Van Buren

A construction worker was struck by a car and killed this morning on I-40 in Crawford County. 

The victim — identified by Arkansas State Police as Kevin Anderson, 49, of Springdale — was doing work along the interstate near the Dyer/Mulberry exit  when he was struck by a westbound Volkswagen sedan at around 6:30 this morning. Anderson was pronounced dead a the scene. The driver of the car, a man from Coal Hill, was apparently unharmed. 

Anderson was reportedly a contract worker for a company laying wire along the Interstate, and not employed by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. 40/29 TV out of Fort Smith has more.
