The Medicaid expansion open line

Posted By on Sun, Mar 2, 2014 at 5:19 PM

An open line on a nasty Sunday night begins two things:

1) WATCH the video from the Daily Show with Al Madrigal talking to real people about what expansion of Medicaid means to them. It's played for laugh. But the opponents of helping people like them are not funny. Not funny at all. Send it to your legislator if he or she is one of the 27 holding up progress in Arkansas.

2) Check in tomorrow. If all goes well, a whale of a tabloid-style story is about to break.

Everything that Donald Trump does — make that everything that he says — is calculated to thrill his lustiest disciples. But he is discovering that what was brilliant for a politician is a miscalculation for a president, because it deepens the chasm between him and most Americans.
  • On Charlottesville

Watching the Charlottesville spectacle from halfway across the country, I confess that my first instinct was to raillery. Vanilla ISIS, somebody called this mob of would-be Nazis. A parade of love-deprived nerds marching bravely out of their parents' basements carrying tiki torches from Home Depot.
