Dr. Robin Bowen was named today as president of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. She's said to be the first woman to head a four-year public college in Arkansas. Hendrix College has had a woman president.

Bowen succeeds Robert Brown, who retired. She is executive vice president of Fitchburg (Mass.) State University. Her full biography is here. It includes bachelor's from Kansas and a  master's degrees from the University of Arkansas.

Tech has 11,000 students, including a campus in Ozark.

Here's the school announcement.
