Local bicyclists have asked me to spread word about the annual Ride of Silence, a national event that will be observed in Little Rock at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21.

Riders will leave a parking lot at 13th and Main and ride slowly and silently on new bike lanes on Main and to the Capitol for a short memorial. Helmets are required for participants and bike lights are "helpful."

The event remembers bikers who've been injured or killed and raises awareness among motorists that bicyclists share the road.

More about the event and Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas at their Facebook  page. Or their website.
