The gun-free campus open line

Posted By on Mon, Jun 2, 2014 at 4:10 PM

I'll open the reader comment line with another gun-related item:

* NO GUNS: Pulaski Tech's Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to continue its policy of banning employees from carrying guns on campus. A 2013 law allowed colleges to permit employees to carry guns, but they have to vote on the policy each year. In the first year, no college availed itself of the opportunity to allow employee concealed carry. The process has begun again. If you hear of any colleges changing tunes, let me know. Said a Tech release:

PTC President Margaret Ellibee recommended the college continue to opt-out because PTC has a Police and Public Safety department that employs 14 certified police officers.
