Entrance to Little Rock Air Force Base has been limited because the base is on lockdown in response to a "suspicious" person. No other details out so far.

The base had done emergency response drills earlier in the day, but the lockdown shortly before noon was the real thing.

Sirens were sounded at the base, a signal to people to go inside buildings.

The lockdown continued at mid-afternoon. Some vehicles were being allowed to leave the base, but entry remain barred at 3:15 p.m.

C-130s on training flights were landing at Clinton National Airport because the LRAFB runway was not open.

UPDATE: An "all clear" was issued at the base on loudspearkers not long after 4 p.m. Still waiting for word about what prompted the alert and intensive search of the base.

The base said in a brief statement after the lockdown was lifted at 4;10 p.m. that authorities determined after a thorough investigation that a report of a suspicious person was "no longer credible."
