The Republican Governors Association is spending a ton to elect Asa Hutchinson in Arkansas. Generally, it goes way negative while Asa pretends like he's a kindly old gent in his own ads.

Typical is the new  RGA ad slamming Ross for the profit he made when he and his wife sold their family drug store in 2007  to an Arkansas-based chain. Questions were raised about the price, including here. But the deal passed House ethics review muster and, interestingly enough, among Ross' staunchest defenders were opinion writers at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The D-G editorialists generally lean Republican.

Here's the Republican ad.

The Ross campaign calls the RGA ad "slanderous" and an effort cover up for Hutchinson's claiming of improper tax credits, plus not telling the truth about them when first asked.

Here's a point-by-point rebuttal from Ross.

Here's the bipartisan House letter on the ethics review.
