The local Green Cab company has plenty to say on Facebook — none good — about Uber if it doesn’t follow the same licensing rules as cab companies. Uber’s entry in Fayetteville has been talked about for several months.

40/29 says Uber is offering five free rides in Fayetteville through Sept. 1. It is the 22nd college town in the company’s lineup.  I’m trying to find it if Uber is entering unilaterally, as it has in some cities by claiming it is not a cab service, merely a communications device and thus exempt from permit, insurance and other regulatory requirements for cab companies.
