Bankruptcy filed by leader of Turner Grain

Posted By on Fri, Sep 5, 2014 at 12:54 PM

Dale Bartlett of Marvell filed a petition in federal bankruptcy court today. He has been president of Turner Grain Merchandising of Brinkley, which has failed to make good on money owed for purchases of farm crops. He also was a principal in a related grain dealing firm.

It was a voluntary filing under Chapter 12 of the bankruptcy code. The filing lists a number of creditors, but lists no specific monetary sums owed.

The filing estimates Bartlett has up to 49 creditors and lists assets and liabilities of $1 to $10 million.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
