Chelsea Clinton and husband Marc Mezvinsky announced on Chelsea's Facebook page last night that she had given birth to a daughter, with Clinton writing: "Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky."

Charlotte is the first child for Clinton and her husband, who were married in 2010, and the first grandchild for former president Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Chelsea Clinton, 34, left her position as a special correspondent for NBC News last month after working at the network for three years. She'd announced that she was pregnant in April.

I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
