Tom Cotton is relentless in attempting to nationalize the Senate campaign, so much so that he can descend into repetitive verbal tics that sound like English as spoken by an iPhone talking points app. His OPM (“Obama per minute”) rate is often in double digits. Of course in addition to “Obama” and “Pelosi” (Latin for devil-woman, according to my GOP sources), Cotton and other Republican candidates love talking about Harry Reid, the Democratic Majority Leader. This has apparently become a bummer for incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor

Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) wants to replace Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and give the job to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), he reportedly told donors at a private fundraiser last month.

According to audio of a Democrats for Education Reform PAC fundraiser obtained by The Washington Free Beacon, Pryor said the “best thing that could happen” to the Senate would be if Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) “gets beat and Harry Reid gets replaced.”

Pryor then suggested Schumer as a replacement, according to the conservative website, saying he “does a pretty darn good job there in the Senate, and he’s actually, he’s not this crazy wild-eyed, left-wing liberal either.”

I’m going to go way out on a limb and suggest that if the senior senator from New York became majority leader, Republicans would just demonize him instead (hell, they demonized Tom Daschle!). Reid seems to be an effective operator, if clumsily obvious in his partisan maneuvering. I’m sure Schumer would be fine too. And I’m sure that no matter who is Majority Leader, Republicans in Arkansas will try to nationalize elections as long as Obama is in the White House and probably for a long time after that too. Even Tim Griffin, running for the powerless state office of lieutenant governor, says voting for John Burkhalter is a vote for Obama. In Arkansas, that’s just what Republicans do.

Over-under for number of times Cotton says “Obama/Obamacare” and “Harry Reid” during the debates?
