Jesusa Chavez, 47, was struck and fatally injured by a vehicle while crossing the 3300 block of Mabelvale Pike about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

A companion said Chavez was crossing the street in front of the Paper Moon strip club when a southbound vehicle seemed to speed up then struck Chavez. Other witnesses described the vehicle as an SUV and said it continued south on Mabelvale Pike without stopping.
