Another woman made history earlier in attorney general's office

A reader adds a footnote to the statement in some news coverage that Republican Leslie Rutledge will be the first woman to serve as attorney general of Arkansas. She is the first elected to the office, but ...

That honor actually belonged to the late Mary Stallcup, who was appointed to the position by Bill Clinton following the resignation of Steve Clark in 1991. Stallcup went on to be UCA's legal counsel before dying of ovarian cancer at the age of 42.
