Here's tonight's open line. Lots more Brian Chilson photo coverage here of the Cornbread Festival on South Main, a splendid Saturday.

Glad you asked: Martha White's Cotton-Pickin' cornbread mix. Use milk, not water, and add an egg. Cook in super-heated cast-iron skillet that has first been well-lubed with bacon grease.Lavish melted butter on the top after baking.

Sides: White beans, cole slaw, Arkansas tomatoes, raw onion.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
