Tom Cotton votes with Nancy Pelosi

Posted By on Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 7:15 AM

We'll see a lot more of this — unless, heaven forbid, the extreme wing of the Republican Party becomes the mainstream — but U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton (and Rep. Rick Crawford) was an outlier again yesterday. He was among 67 Republicans who didn't get behind Speaker John Boehner's spending deal.

I'd be remiss if I didn't note that Tom Cotton voted with Nancy Pelosi last night.

Cotton's vote was primarily motivated by his desire to crack down on immigrants, maybe shut down Homeland Security until the president cranks up an operation to deport 5 million people. Pelosi's vote against the bill was motivated by the provision to ease rules restraining big banks.
