Video takes on Diamond oil pipeline project

Lansky Sound
and "Property Rights, Not Pipelines," an advocacy group that opposes the Valero Pipeline/Plains All American Pipeline's Diamond Project, has created this video to talk about the state Constitution's provision granting eminent domain to oil pipeline companies and the threat that presents to Arkansans who don't want to give up their land to the oil company. The exact route of the pipeline across Arkansas — which will run from Cushing, Okla., to Memphis — has not yet been made public. A final route has yet to be filed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Little Rock, the only governmental agency that has say-so, and only where the pipeline crosses navigable waters, a spokesman said.

Yesterday NPR featured an interview with Nebraska residents on both sides of the eminent domain issue, a woman who is having a hard time believing their land can be taken from them for the Keystone XL Pipeline and a man who says he was well compensated.
