Gov. Mike Beebe unveiled his official portrait today at the Capitol with Ovita Goolsby, the Garland County artist who painted it. She worked from photos. Beebe had said when Goolsby was chosen that he was too restless to sit still for long. The portrait traditionally is financed by private contributions. The portrait of the most recent former governor traditionally hangs above the fireplace in the Governor's Conference Room.

The portrait cost $12,500. Donations were coordinated through the Democratic Party.
