Former Sen. David Wyatt dies at 65

Former Democratic Sen. David Wyatt of Batesville died this morning. He was 65 and had been undergoing treatment for cancer.

Wyatt, who didn't seek re-election in 2014, was a farmer, and a former Independence County judge who held off a Republican challenger, Linda Collins-Smith,  in 2012  She won the seat in 2014.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.
