Maine tax plan to include nonprofits gets a look

Posted By on Fri, Mar 6, 2015 at 7:09 AM

Huffington Post writes at length about Maine Gov. Paul LePage's new tax plan, an idea drawing some warm looks from cities, counties and states elsewhere.

In brief: LePage wants to put nonprofits' property back on the tax rolls (not churches) and increase the sales tax while adding it to goods and services not currently taxed, including sales by nonprofits such as at thrift stores.

Special favor tax exemptions have long been popular at the Arkansas legislature.

Is it fair?

When budgets are tight, is it worth considering?
